The chest having a gently domed top with a hinged lid having the original 'snipe' hinges, the edge of the lid having carved gadrooning. To the front of the chest there are large and deeply carved geometric devices, to the center is a large hand cut steel lock and hasp. Both sides of the chest having hand forged iron carrying handles within a deeply carved lozenge design
